Rampion Offshore Wind Farm has been named operational Offshore Wind Project of the Year at the prestigious 2024 Global Offshore Wind Awards this week [16 October 2024].
At a glittering event in London, organised by Renewable UK, the team from the offshore wind farm was honoured to receive the accolade after a judging panel consisting of its offshore peers chose Rampion as the winner.
“The award is truly deserved by the whole team at Rampion, and it is a testament to their hard work delivering operational excellence for a Sustainable Sussex every day,” said Daniel Allen-Baines, General Manager at Rampion Wind Farm.
Earlier in 2024, RWE-operated Rampion Wind Farm implemented its Future Vision Strategy: Delivering Operational Excellence for a Sustainable Sussex. The vision focusses on nine key areas that align with the UN Sustainable Goals: Sustainability, Investment, Collaboration, Community, Diversity, Performance, Growth, Development and Collective intelligence. Rampion’s entry to the Operational Project of the Year outlines the work they are undertaking to achieve success in these areas.
Contributing to Rampion’s success is the uniqueness of the Rampion Visitor Centre, which has been open for four years. It provides a unique, exciting and interactive educational experience for children and adults of all ages, educating them about all aspects of the offshore wind farm, including the technology, minimisation of environmental impacts, economic viability and the community benefits. In 2023, the visitor centre hosted 17,075 visitors, including 140 school visits focussed on STEM curriculum-linked learning.
